Also have a look at the CTR shipwreck Brett left, he was there for a very long time. The CTR threads are very complicated, yet you will get the basics reasonably quick.
A co-director at the time, P. Landau is in all sorts of trouble!
Fees and more fees, rent, etc. etc. it would be safe to say there was money to be made everywhere!
In all fairness, Brett was the first director to jump ship!
