The winning formula is simple:
Only buy and hold uptrending stocks and jettison them as soon as they break trend .... Let the winners run and cut the losers ....when there are no or few uptrending stocks in your portfolio this formula will see you holding lots of 'protective' cash.
I don't short using CFD's any more - tried that with CMC but got sick of what appeared to be orchestrated 'stop hunts' by the 'Market Maker'.
I am happy to sit on the sidelines until 'uptrending opportunities' arise.
"Buy and Hold" is unwise as, to my mind it is akin to "Buy and Hope" - it can cost you dearly.
