It seems to me that there will be no winners in the SSM debate. A lot of Australians have gone down the path and oppression and vindication. We have former Primeministers putting his boots into many Australians with glee. What a dignified man he is. It's not a leftie problem, it's not a rightie problem, it's whether you have the compassion and empathy to put yourself in the shoes of those Australians who simply want to be free to marry the partner of their choice. Don't bring religion into it, just walk a mile in their shoes. It sounds corny but just think about it. What if your kids were faced with this choice. We are a civilised society, not that you'd know it from some posters in this thread. Shame on some of you, you're better than that.
