    I dont know if I would be too dismissive of geothermal efforts in NZ ... its different I know but there is such a thing as lateral thinking.

    Its been producing for over 40 yrs and currently provides about 10% of national electricity needs. Its commercially and environmentally commercial and successful. Wells are up to 2000m deep. They have considerable expertise in reticulating superheated steam and associated infrastrucure. They employ a lot of people with unique experience. Utlities have respect for the value of geothermal.

    I'd be surprised if we didnt end up drawing on some of that experience to roll out generating capacity assuming success at Haberno3.
