"The top tank can cover a wider area with less depth which would provide even more head pressure. Make the top tank 100m deep"
so - you are going to build a wide tank 100 METRES deep ----- on top
then - you are going to let it fall when it's full - to a generator that is at the apx. 300 metre deep mark in your pit (a head of 400 m ) - then pump water back up from the 300 metre deep mark -- to your top tank - against a head of 400 metres
now - your head pressure is
400 m when your depth in hole is 300 m
300 m when your depth in hole is 200 m
200 m when your depth in hole is 100 m
100 m when your depth in hole is surface
now
"If you matched the 'little' bit of volume in the first 300m at the bottom of the pit with a similar volume holding tank at surface level you would have a massive volume containing the latent energy store."
are you meaning that your hole only ever holds 300 metres of water - or do you mean that your hole working depths vary between surface and 300 m
I got a bit confused there???
if you meant you were only using the bottom 300 - then, the calculations would be different of course - just as problematic though.
And, even if one could make this system work -- I have no doubt one could use it to generate power - recharging it could be a hell of a problem though - but, lets get over that - even if one could get it to work -
who exactly is going to pay for it???????????
