I think it would be frustrating in the industry, way too much politics and not enough data analysis. I find it interesting to look at the numbers because the actual numbers tell a different story imo to what we read daily. The way I see it my numbers/research is either right or wrong, I hope I'm wrong in some ways but numbers from the OP don't make practical sense to me unless they are using annual average factors.

Pumped hydro and grid scale batteries would also work well and possibly better with conventional thermal or nuclear generators but that is ignored in discussions of mix. Solar would probably be better suited to pumped Hydro, wind less so and I expect when new cheaper farms are brought on line we will have significant curtailment which will blow these $/mwh out of the water, there may also be some asset impairments just like what happened after the US shale boom. The CSP in SA is promising and could be a better storage solution if we are going the storage path. Storage is waste though, capacity rules.

Disruption technologies can be positive, destructive ones less so if we ignore obvious risks.
