Psychopathy is classed as a (severe) personality disorder.
It is not a mental illness.
Psychopaths know thay are doing wrong but don't care.
They have free will and choose to do what they do.
Mental illness means you may not have free will, you may not know what you are doing and thus may not be legally culpable for your crime.
