DD, yes the mean 30s must be males, had one do a complete circle under the dingy last year.

Although last year here in the upper Hastings the bass were very scarce, my only idea was that because the river was extra low at the various rapids (we have 3 rapids on our place) they could not get upstream but at the same time I have previously seen them making headway with half their bodies out of the water.
Maybe a few locals with some geli were the cause. Hoping for a better year this year.

Year before an amazing experience. November, just on dark, storm approaching, insects everywhere, 1/4" lure casting off a gravel bank into water 15' deep shallowing to nothing. All of a sudden boof!, boof!, boof!, hard to describe tha sound of multiple bass taking insects off the surface. An hour of bliss, almost trod on one of them walking back in about 4" of water.

Favourite spot, "platypus cove", huge boulders underneath the water, lots of big overhanging trees, the river about 30' wide, funny how quite often there is a tremendous hit as the lure hits the water, crikey they must be quick to see it falling. Other times they will follow it until 12" from the rod tip until hitting it.

Anyway what are we doing talking of fishing, this is a stock market forum.
