Hi there and welcome, and remember that your investment in a parcel of shares is a capital item, if you sell at a profit you will need to keep the ol CGT, so always take that into account prior to selling... I have found that for stocks like GXY it is good to build up the parcel, and try to hold till you are really in the green, also wish I had started buying stocks at 23 yrs old! so go well and keep an open mind and a good sense of humour, if it keeps you awake at night, learn to avoid the daily fluctuations, learn as much as you can and work out a plan..
