Just because AirBNB and Uber are seen as tech companies don't think they are disruptive technology. Whilst AirBNB and Uber have disrupted their industries by using current technology to improve the users booking experience and they have turned any room into a potential hotel and any car into a potential taxi, the overall business model hasn't really changed from a running cost perspective. The booking and running costs/times of a room/ride remain similar to the existing industry. An Uber still requires a car and that car needs to be fueled, serviced and driven. There are no major technology advance that result in cost reductions when compared to the existing business model. This is why Uber is losing so much money. If Uber used self driving cars that would cut the labor costs. That is disruptive technology.
SAS's technology actually reduces the running costs of communications when compared to the current technology.
