Enormous revenue as I stated before and that is what it is all about as no speed camera ever prevented a traffic accident. They might cause a few though as drivers spend more time monitoring their speedo and looking out for cameras than watching where they are going.
Many countries have no road rules and although the traffic is chaotic they have no more accidents than countries like ours with hundreds of rules because people drive according to the conditions.
Like nearly all rural dwellers I frequently travel at well above the 100km speed limit because modern highways with little traffic are perfectly safe at higher speeds and we have long distances to cover. I have not had any speeding fines because the camera vehicle is always positioned at the bottom of a few well known hills to try to maximise revenue so locals know where to slow down.
