pc I totally agree with your summation of these 2 companies. I too believe that when surgeons are comparing lvad devices, ease of implant and explant surely must be the most important consideration assuming that each are reliable as each other.
the heartware device is the only lvad to be placed in the pericardial space directly adjacent to the heart and above the diaphragm - eliminating the need for complicated abdominal surgury.
i have been following and these 2 companies for a long time and came to the realization that when potential patients are given the option of a quicker 1-2 hour operation as opposed to a 4-5 hour operation which one would the majority of patients choose?
|For any person undergoing any surgury - critical considerations are (1)How long is the surgury going to take? (2)How complicated is the procedure going be?

Why would a doctor recommend a longer and more complicated operation when the same result could be acheived with another device without the extra stress?
why would a patient choose a more complicated procedure at double the surgury time when the same result could be acheived without the extra stress?

The above comparison are thoughts and considerations given to any type of surgury that may be underataken by anyone.
