The $42 million is to be spent to prove that the is no conventional gas onshore, call me cynical but given that they are choosing to ignore all the exploration that has been done to date over the past 100 odd years I can only assume that they will get the result that they are paying for.
While I am passionate about alternative energy I still feel there is a role for gas in the medium term, I couple this with fact that I have concerns about the use of solar panels that have a typical life of less than 25 years, what will happen when millions of them become redundant? Recycle? Waste? What? Then there is the issue of the use of resource to manufacture that are dug up in one country then transported to another for manufacture and the on to Australia for sale, his green is it anyway? Why don't we look at centralised solar arrays with a much longer life!
In summery I hate the short term knee jerk reactionary behaviour of our politicians based on populism rather than long term thought out plans for our future. Our children deserve better than this!
