But what if the improvement in the dollar amount from my portfolio is greater than yours, but the stocks I have chosen are more risky than those that you have chosen?
Unless you account for risk differentials when viewing relative investment performance, you are comparing apples with oranges.
For example, take the trivial case where we both generate equal dollar improvements, yet one of our portfolio's is made up of far more risky stocks.
Surely you wouldn't then say the contest is tied?
