......it is not hard to see that easy contraception, no fault divorce and non-essential abortions have had a HUGE impact on society and arguably not for the better.......
So your view is that the world was a better place when women were welded to their husband despite the abuse; rape and continual pregnancy spitting out unwanted brats with no hope for a better life.
.......Marriage (the union of man to woman/women) seems to have been a global institution pre-dating both state and Church....... Most early cultures viewed women as possessions to be sold off to the highest bidder. Marriage at that time was just formalisation of the transfer of ownership.
