The first bomb was dropped on the 6th and the 2nd bomb on the 9th of August 1945. So why did the Japanese High command wait a further week until the 15th to surrender, during which time the entire Kwangtung army collapsed under the Soviet offensive, commenced on the 9th and pretty well finished by the 15th?
