yes, many of China's historical relics were taken to Taiwan by the Kuomintang. I believe they are now kept at the national museum there.

Despite the rhetoric from both sides, it is highly unkilely they will go to war over Taiwan in the foreseeable future. Economically, both countries need each other; too mcuh are at stake to lose ot all in an irrelevant war. Having said that, of concern is the present incumbent government in Taiwan to declare independice. If that were to happen, tensions across the Taiwan Strait will certainly increase substantially.
