An interesting bit in a Guidance Note for the galvanizing industry from the Dept of Environment in the UK says....
"..Recovering the acid value is not commercially viable at the time of writing."
Sounds like the normal route is to neutralize the spent acid with alkali and landfill the precipitated salts (ie Fe and Zn). Whilst the Zn tonnage might not be as great as EAF dust, the value of such a service to the galvanizing industry might be worth significant $$$.
This thing gets bigger all the time!! :o}
