These are scripted marketing interviews. The conferences do them to further engage the attending and non-attending audience. The interviewer is merely there to make the story flow. They aren’t really there to question the interviewee, and especially not to get creative in asking new questions. This is why you’ll almost always see most company representatives do a decent job of answering questions (since they know what questions are coming), unless they are terrible PR people.
