Dunce moment #2
In 2010 I bought 400, 000 of a stock called Lyc instead of entering the correct purchase price I typo'd the decimal place
incorrectly on the commsec profile page(not order page)
I wasn't using Iress at the time, so kept refreshing the portfolio page to get a valuation. To my disbelief I looked along the bottom line and saw Minus $1,500,000. Instead of paying 20 c I thought I had paid $2.
To say that I was numb from the waist down is an understatement. I didnt know whether to call commsec , my trading buddie or my mother.
Could i get commsec to reverse the order, i really panicked so much that I think my heart stopped for a second.
To give you an idea of a reaction , it goes something like this.....
I couldn't trade for a week out of fear.
Lesson learn't , always triple check before buying and selling.
Endless on the day trading thread always say check open orders as an opening line.
I saw Nxr crashing so I put what I call a "stupid buy order" way below market like 70% below current market price.
I got hit, didn't realise and 2 days later it went into a trading halt for 2 years (approx). I think I am the only shareholder in profit at an avg price of 1.4 c, lucky too it was a pilot buy of $600- another lesson learnt.
