This should be good news for Telstra. They will clean up with 5G as people with horrible Fraudband (FTTN) connections opt out and go to mobile.
Additionally, it gives the ISPs more bargaining power with NBNCO. After all, if people start opting out, NBNCO will have to incentivise their service, cutting prices to telcos, which can bring back some of that lost profit margin. There have already been hints that NBNCO and the government is looking at the pricing structure.
Then again, the way this government has handled the energy issue (and everything else), we might see a lot of posturing and no real action.
