Pop to the beginning in Gen and we see, and God said, and God said, and God said, and God said, hmm That's The Word that John's talking about.
    -----------
Wotsup, I did what you suggested and there is not a word mentioned by God.
(Genesis 1:1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The Genesis account then describes what occurred billions of years later when God began preparing the earth for human habitation.
(Genesis 1:2) Now the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep, and God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters.
It was after this God issued instructions of what need to be done while his angels did the work.
(Psalm 103:20) Praise Jehovah, all you his angels, mighty in power, Who carry out his word, obeying his voice.

The beginning mentioned at John 1 is at a time earlier than the creation of the universe of Genesis 1:1.
