Deputy chairman of the Lower Tailings Landowners Association, James Tauriko says the claim by Philip Miriori that he is the chairman of Special Mining Lease Osikaiyang Landowners Association (SMLOLA) is wrong.
Mr Tauriko said the issue of who is the rightful chairman of SMLOLA is still in the court mediation process between himself and Lawrence Daveona.
“And he cannot claim the title of chairman until the mediation process is complete and the court finds who the rightful chairman is of SMLOLA.
“Mr Miriori should not write anything to the papers claiming he is the chairman,” he said.
Mr Tauriko said in a recent publication in this paper on October 17, 2017, this is the same person who is pushing to get an exploration licence for the lower tailings
area.
“The Central Me’ekamui Exploration Limited and RTG are trying to get approval from the public, but we at the lower tailings area have never been consulted to do mining exploration in our area, and the Lower Tailings Landowners Association should have firstly been approached to gauge their views, and this goes for all other associations along the tailings area,” said Mr Tauriko.
