Now listen and in all fairness, did you seriously actually look at the Mal verses etc and the others I put up?
It, very clearly shows, John first was to clear the way for Almighty God, who is the true light ref in John 1:9 and God's light bearer, carrier of His torch, was about to come - God's Salvation in His Son, through.
It was coming into the world in a way never done before.
It was already in the world - How many OT verse would you like me to provide you?
Bring up all verses on Light, you maybe surprised?

John 12:46 I am come "a" light into the world.
I take it you understand, one of the Key things Jesus was to do, was to finish the works of the Father and Show us the Father = The Word/Spirit/Light.
John tells us, some asked Jesus to show us the Father, and Jesus, "because" the Spirit/Word/Light of God was in him, so effectively, or therefore, everything I do is the Father that dwelleth IN me, He doeth the works. John 14:8-11.
Then to understand more - Acts 2:12 tells us, that ALL the miracles that Jesus did, "WAS" actually the Father doing them "through" Jesus and that was because the Spirit/Word/Light OF the Father was in him.

The light comes from, God's Word so lets see another aspect of The Almighty God and Father of Jesus;
1 John 1:5 Part thereof - and declare unto to you, that God is Light.
In Rev in two places we see - God IS the light and Jesus is the light shinning "from" it = From the true light.
James 1:17 Almighty God IS the Father of lights.

Have a look at the way John was first Baptizing, it was all about God "with" the message of the one coming and how things would change. But none of that comes into play until 1:14.

I take it you realize, John from 1-18 Starts right back before any creation, to Gen and finishes where Jesus is now at the right hand side of the Father = It's a prelude, insight from beginning to where he is now.

In no way do the first 18 verses jump back and forth (beginning, forward, backward and then forward etc) which you are saying by reading into it, as Jesus being the word = That I'm sorry would equal craziness.
Just think logic, if Jesus was The Word, was John to ashamed to mention his name in 1:1 - My gosh, what's up with people?

Most of John or every passage is about The Word of the Father that Jesus brought, it's the SEED, The Bread, The Water etc Isa 55.
Take a look at John 1:13 Do you know you are "born again" BY the word of "GOD"?
Are you not seeing that's what 1:13 means, born of God?
What did Jesus teach and how to be born again?
Yes we know, we must come through Jesus, But God calls you as Jesus says and that is BY, His (God's) Word, the word of life.
