I had a teacher who hit me on the back of the head.
I told my father.
I can't remember how long after, but, I was outside the RSL club and my father came up to me and said, 'come with me'
he walked me up to the teacher who was in the club and said 'is this him?' 'the one who hit you in the head'
I said yep,
It never happened again - in fact - he never laid a finger on me again.
My father was short, very stocky and did aggression very well - his look could kill and he was very strong and, I don't know what they taught them before they went to Kokoda - but, I am pretty sure he could fight. He survived PNG, Egypt and somewhere else which escapes me.
He did inform the teacher that corporal punishment was ok - but, not hits to the head - not on.
Whatever - he scared the crap out of the guy so much that never again did our skin touch
I have often said - that watching a tigress defend her cubs is an amazing sight - but, never underestimate a pissed off father - some of them if they get on a mission are memorable.
It's an interesting thing - I have never felt like a father - certainly not a good one - but, one time, someone did something to my daughter who was about?? 8 ish or 10 ish - and, I just reacted immediately and wacked the guy - he never touched her again either and, he kept a lot of distance between him and me thereafter.
I suppose it's called love or something similar. Clearly I didn't have the control my father had
