@ralom - this type of report is to share the learnings from early adopters to the surgical field at large. The authors are enthusiastic about the lack of calcification, and found that the patch performed as required in most cases, with the exception of the aortic arch in 4 neonates under the age of 10 days.
With the help of these kinds of reports, the surgeons can modify how and when they use the product, to ensure best outcomes. The authors were fairly negative about two competing products, CorMatrix and Matrix, stating that those products exhibited calification and are too smooth and slippery to manipulate during surgery.
Overall, a positive study for CardioCel, with some realistic insights.
