As far as I can see, in this particular discourse, the signs were grouped together. Clearly part of the one narrative.
Jesus was warning these particular disciples what was to happen in their lifetime.
----------
Copper, it becomes difficult to explain due to disciples of his day believing the Kingdom of God was imminent. Jesus spoke of the temple being destroyed .
(Matthew 23:36-24:2) Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. 37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent to her—how often I wanted to gather your children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings! But you did not want it. 38 Look! Your house is abandoned to you. 39 For I say to you, you will by no means see me from now until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in Jehovah’s name!’”
24 Now as Jesus was departing from the temple, his disciples approached to show him the buildings of the temple. 2 In response he said to them: “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, by no means will a stone be left here upon a stone and not be thrown down.”
Jesus told them plainly the temple was going to be utterly destroyed in their expected life time. You can find the same info at Mark 13:2 and Luke 21:6. This was what they quizzed Jesus about.
(Matthew 24:3) While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be,.....
but notice what else Matthew tells us they asked
Matt 24:3 b and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”
Jesus had gone to great lengths to help them understand this would occur in the distant future.
(Luke 19:11, 12) While they were listening to these things, he told another illustration, because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God was going to appear instantly. 12 So he said: “A man of noble birth traveled to a distant land to secure kingly power for himself and to return.
Notice the purpose of the illustration was to correct their idea that the "Kingdom of God" was imminent. Jesus was the man that was going travel to a "distant land" which would take considerable time. Then Jesus spoke of how he would deal with his "slaves"- Luke 19: 15-26. Lastly he mentioned what he would do to his enemies.
(Luke 19:27) Moreover, bring these enemies of mine here who did not want me to become king over them and execute them in front of me.’”
Jesus answered their 2 part question even though his enthronement and return to reward faithful slaves and destroy his enemies is in no way linked to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. This was something that was to befall a future generation long after the first century Christians were gone. Apparently the penny hadn't yet dropped with his disciples. It wasn't until holy spirit was poured out on his disciples at Pentecost that his disciples understood things clearly.
It is much easier to understand things with the advantage of hindsight. However there are some that will always lack understanding.
(Proverbs 9:10) The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom, And knowledge of the Most Holy One is understanding.
