Its worse than that. One or two of the car manufacturers were given billions in industry assistance so long as they made a car in Australia for the international market. They never did this after taking the money and when they needed more and were told there would be no more coming they pulled up stakes and have now left. Still we will be importing their vehicles which will now be made significantly in China at supposedly a cheaper price and exported to Australia and sold here. Do you think we will see a drop in price because they are made cheaper in China?
They broke the deal with Australia and I reckon they should be banned from exporting to Australia because of this.
Australian industry like car importers and the manufacturers will never allow the Australian people to import from Japan or any where else. If they do ever allow it the import duties, taxes, red tape and waiting periods will be so extreme as to be non viable.
