So to whoever implied "what do I know" about NBN... I mean it's not like I'm an electrical engineer with friends in IT & telecoms industries. Oh wait.

Too many people - understandably - look at NBN through the prism of simply downloading movies, logging into Hatebook, and how fast they can send an email.

To me, there is so much more potential in it. With IoT (yes, it's a well worn term but bear with me) the amount of data being produced will grow exponentially. This is something that my dumbass former-fed MP couldn't grasp (I moved, old white people keep voting for him though); there is only so much capacity in wireless & copper systems. It's just physics. We can do some pretty incredible things with encoding, compression, etc - but at the end of the day, we will eventually reach a saturation point. Ergo, fibre to the premises is required to have that capacity for IoT. Don't look at NBN as a 5-10 year infrastructure investment. This is a 50-100 year investment. If we want to compete with other nations in the digital age, we HAVE to go FTTP.

Maybe to put it in simpler terms... some days, our remote connections to sites are bad even though we are on FTTP - because our clients are often on copper. I can't work from home most days (if I wanted), because the existing copper network in my area is at capacity. 100% FTTP would alleviate all this.

Secondly, TLS as along term tech player not telco: firstly you can already see them investing heavily into health, cloud deployments/enterprise services and into IoT companies. Whether they can pull all of these off is another thing (I think the can, but there is still a transition needed from telco to tech...maybe that requires a subbrand?) - but they are investing in the future, both in the tech to support it and the roll out itself.

Some of you here on this forum seem to think that the transition should happen overnight, and things like NAS should be raking in money now. I think you're being overly amibitious - TLS is a big company with a telco reputation, and it will take time and effort to change that perception... but as it does, you'll see the money roll in.

5 years ago blockhain tech started to gather pace. 10 years ago we got ushered into the smartphone age. 20 years ago the internet was slowly becoming prevalent through dial up. TLS is making an effort to be part of that accelerating digital change - good on them.

TLDR; FTTP is the way to go. TLS has great stuff in the pipeline - hopefully it can pull it off.
