Basis Capital Aust-Rim Fund Has Lost Half Its Value - Source

SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Australian hedge fund manager Basis Capital Management Ltd.'s Aust-Rim Diversified fund has lost around half of its value amid the global credit crunch, a person familiar with the situation said Friday.

The value of the fund fell 13.3% in June and a further 33% in July, the person said.

However, the fund has met all its margin calls, the person said.

Basis sought bankruptcy protection for its Basis Yield Fund in the U.S. in August after it suffered big losses due to fallout from the U.S. subprime-mortgage crisis.
