Just read this Insta Post of Vincent again, it´s very informative:
vincent_pardieuWell, i think that the most diseapointed people were the people from Mustang who had high expectations. But they learned a lot this week end. Now the people willing to buy big stones were diseapointed because there was not enough stones for them. Many went to the beach or fishing. They wait now for the coming Gemfields auction, so they will be fine. Then people interested in small stones were also diseapointed because most of the stones were too pink and the grading was not done in a way to make their job easy. Now everybody i talked to seems to understand that it was Mustang first test and they know that the gem business is not an easy one. They hope that the next auction will be more succesful.
The buyers will be there next year, no doubt.
But it won't only be about grading (thats essential too!), its also about focusing on the right buyers. Now they know them, it's not off the table that MUS can meet their expectations in the following auction(s).
