A horse named Alexium was an early favourite, but has drawn a wide barrier and is carrying a bit of weight, and has slipped down the rankings a little.
The connections are still confident, but the punters have been steering away as we have gotten closer to race day, and the odds widened recently. Backing her appears a little risky, but the return should be good; she just needs to prove some of her training form on the track.
A slow starter, she needs to hold her position early in the race, but look for her at the turn, she should come in strong and wide down the straight.
She's a true stayer, and with some good mid-run positioning off the rails she should finish strongly. The shorter distances have not suited her, but she should return after her recent form slump with renewed vigour.
Needless to say, she hasn't set the world on fire yet .... but that is the idea .....
