Your response puzzles me somewhat. "Australia's welfare society, rather than producing adults vaccinated against lifes challenges, instead mollycoddles and protects them from experiencing failure, (and prevents them from learning the power of persistence and determination) And if any do get close to being able to experience real life in the raw, there always seems to be a councellor ready to step in to dilute the experience."
Complicated grief can happen to any one and like addictions it does not discriminate, be it ..those on welfare or in well paid professions. For someone suffering depression or another serious mental illness, consulting an appropriate professional is a much better solution that suicide..imo.
