That's a very strange way of looking at dividend payments. If A2M were to pay out a 30 mill dividend and BAL were to pay out a 30 mill dividend then the dividend isn't more expensive for either party. It just means that BAL shareholders would get more bang for their buck. But realistically, A2m would probably pay a higher amount than BAL.
Anyway my point being, that companies don't go "Hey we want to pay 30c per share in dividends", instead they calculate the total amount they want to pay, and then distribute that between shareholders, and thats how the 30c is created.
