They (exiters) put in dummy buy bids just below the buy price, giving the impression to the inexperienced punter that the buy line is strong and that they must put in a a higher bid or fail to get in at these prices.
The dummy buyer then dumps his sell loads to these inexperienced buyers who keep paying a premium for their shares, not knowing that 70% of the buys below them have no intention of buying, but instead are used to keep the price propped up
