I would disagree.
Whilst the market may have got it wrong (I thought the market was always right??), the expectations generated have been from management.
If you were to go back to previous announcements (I still have all the glossy books with their fancy graphs), we as investors make decisions based on information released to us the general public.
I am not privy to discussion between directors or sophisticated investors/ institutions, & have to base my decision on market releases.
If the market is not as big as the prospectuses lead us to believe then you must have your own research company & I would implore VCR employ yourself for your valued input.

As I would have thought that the business plan would have been well thought out in advance. If they have overestimated income by the factor you imply then VCR management should go..
