I use incredible charts, looking at past 6 months, each time the bands tightened the sp took off higher, Except for the last time in July when it went lower..........used in conjunction with macd histogram, you could see the macd moved higher in unison with the spikes, since mid sep the macd moved down or lower to neutral.............
Julia lee used the bollinger together with fundaments, the bollinger can indicate a spike downwards or upwards. she is of the opinion not to use the rsi in these cases as it almost always gives an oversold/overbought reading..............suggests instead to use the macd histogram to indicate the direction........she seems about right in case of mpo
