I recently spoke to an old friend of mine who owns the local Mazda dealership here in town. he has been in the business all his life having inherited it from his father. He has been in that business for 30 years now. I asked him what he thought about electric cars. He said (much to my amazement) that electric cars would never take hold or have any market share in our lifetime. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I asked him if he knew the figures of electric sales in the US China and Europe, he said there are next to none. I was totally amazed at his lack of knowledge and understanding about what is happening overseas right now. I just listened and didn't argue but I did try to tell him some of the figures involved around current electric car and bike sales. He flat out refused to believe me or even listen to what I had to say. My friend is only 49 years old, same as me, but just goes about his day to day without looking outside his office or really understanding what is happening outside of Australia. I believe that right now he represents 90% of people in Australia and their views of electric cars and trucks. This is all about to change...and change very rapidly. At present nearly every car manufacturer is developing or already has an electric car online. The same is also happening with trucks ...To say this WONT HAPPEN ever, I believe is a big mistake. The Tesla truck already has 500 klm range and this will extend as technology rapidly evolves. This IS happening and happening right now...its just the start..but the start of something huge. We as humans generally keep open minds and are excited to progress. From horse and cart to the moon in less than 100 years...who is to say that an electric truck will never be a reality??
As Charlie Chaplin (the famous silent movie star) once said.."I give the talking movies 6 months at best, then they are gone"....6 months later poor Charlie was out of a job
