So when someone quotes the company as saying it has 9 months' of cash in hand, pointing out that this is not possible based on the facts, is somehow a disgrace?

When someone states that MNK is an ideal partner, then pointing out some aspects of MNK's financial situation means it is not an ideal partner... that is also disgraceful?

And when, in response to people say that Teva is a committed partner, then pointing out possible reasons why Teva might not be so committed... another disgraceful act?


What about the investors who over the years have preserved their capital by selling,or not buying, MSB shares at significantly higher prices because they - on a stock discussion forum [*] - encountered certain information that they would not otherwise have come across? Do you think it is a disgrace that those people have avoided incurring losses?

Personally, I have held shares in companies, in which there were certain less-than-positive aspects I had omitted to consider. It is only because other people pointed those negative aspects out that I was able to re-evaluate my position. In some cases I dismissed that unfavourable information and it cost me. In other cases I acted on that negative information and avoided making a loss as a result.

And that, I think, is an example of a stock discussion forum working the way it should... where the collective value of of all the views, insights, and opinions exceeds the sum of their individual parts.

Hardly a thing of disgrace, I wouldn't have thought.
