global warming does not scare me, page-80

I agree with Milesg about Global Warming.

Even if there is only a one in six chance that
Al Gore is right - that is reason enough
for me to take evasive action on
climate change - like today I
    was 'stump-grubbing' by
    using my Trewella Jack
    before digging a hole
    for a round concrete
    foundation for our
    fifth rainwater tank:

Americans love their guns with a passion.
I love my Trewalla jack with a passion
because it puts me in touch with
    Australia's colonial past and
    very few still survive in
    good working order:

In pioneering times, stump-grubbing was needed
so white settlement could proceed in fertile areas:

Those pioneers did it tough, but not as tough as these
blokes who were using Trewalla jacks to lever the
stump of a 'Messmate' gum during construction
of Victoria's Moe to Walhalla rail line:

My grandfather was helping to clear the Kooweerup Swamp
and dig Bunyip's 'Main Drain' (in return for a land grant)
at about the same time. He did it tough too.

He was a go-getter and built the first house in the
area (while everybody else was still living in tents)
so my grandmother was know as
    'The Lady of The Swamp'!

But the best cure for feeling hard-done-by
is to read this gruesome book about
    Australia's convict transport era:

    When all else fails...

    ... try group therapy.
