Given the short history of settlement and shorter history of our parliament , I would put money on the fact that those who wrote the rules originally did not even comply if interpreted the way it is being translated today.

The only ones who would have complied to the rules would have been the original inhabitants . Many at the time of the setting up of parliament presumeably may have had immediate family (father or mother) born in another country .

Now that would be an interesting exercise for an up and coming reporter !
