if they are doing such a great job why has the highest profile player in the league got a drug problem? were not talking about a one-off incident. we are talking about a dependancy problem which went undetected. why? because the rules that are in place are not good enough to identify such a situation! and they come out and say that their policy is based on educating the players on the problems with drugs! hows this for education: drugs are illegal. dont use them. if u do and get caught you WILL get banned. how is AFL different from the rest of society. r the players that dumb that they need to fail a test 3 times to understand this? if i were to get done for drugs in my line of work i would get the sack and would not be able to find work again in my industry. all the afl is doing is inadvertantly creating a drug culture in addition to the already existing driniking culture. one day they will wake up and smell the coffee. these guys are not above the rest of society and should not be treated any differently. cousins will not be the last we hear of drugs in afl. remember when Lewis came out and stated that drugs are rife in the afl? remember how much stick he got cos of this? the media, footy experts, players, coaches came out and bagged him for it! look what we have today! a drug addict, apparently 5 hawk players in rehab, plus god knows what else cos its all kept under closed doors. THE DRUG POLICY IN THE AFL IS A FAILURE and yet they are constantly defending it. maybe when a current player ODs and dies will they realise that they are wrong. its time now to be proactive and address this issue and not wait for a tragedy to react.
