Its standard 'Lock and Key' theory. Someone invents a new lock and sure enough someone will invent a way to break or get around that lock.
Let's say you are right and quantum computing will be able to make encryption obsolete. I see it as an opportunity rather than a risk. A smart company will use this problem to create a solution and capitalise on it.
Right now, I don't see all that many people with a quantum computer in their spare room...
