    The mill was built before WPG bought it and it’s been processing ore for years. Kingsgate used to own it and the mines around it then WpG became was a jv partner then WPG finally bought the operation out (l may be wrong).
    As I understand it KCN worked the mine till it got to really difficult stratum. They didn’t want to push through the basically non profitable stuff to get to the potentially valuable Challenger Deeps whereas WPG decided they could do it cost efficiently ..plus there was other gold nearby, plus the mill would be an asset.
    They were doing ok for a bit then it turned sour when the mining contractor they had inherited went over budget and underperformed at a point where churning through the ‘unproductive’ ore quickly was really important.
    They put a new contractor in who is apparently doing a better job but all that unproductive ore going through the mill meant the mill needed repairs and meanwhile the previous contractor has decided to take them to court for breaking their contract.
    Which is why we are priced as we are...
