All very Machievellian by the PM.
The form of Bill that was to be put to parliament should have been the subject of the plebiscite so people could see what they were voting on. Instead, we were asked to vote for a blank cheque. Sensible people voted No because they could see that precisely this would happen. The cart was put before the horse.
Again, next week, the cart will be put before the horse. MT intends to put this at the top of his priority list - like, he has had nothing else important to do since he became PM. This, despite the fact that the HofR may well not be constituted validly. Quite clearly, the citizenship issue should be resolved by the parliament then the High Court then by any replacements or by-elections BEFORE this highly contentious Bill goes before the House.
The gays in parliament will be pleased - I saw Wong and Smith chortling away, also George Brandis could hardly contain himself. No doubt Chris Pyne will be doing an all nighter on his favourite video website when it all passes.
Turnbull deserves all that is coming his way.
