Mussolini father was a committed socialist and so was Mussolini until he realized that he couldn’t achieve his objectives other than by force or absolute control thus he became involved in fascism.
IMO basically he was Social Capitalists builder who achieved many positives for Italy but he was also a dictator with a chip. A problem with Dictators is generally they have such a very high opinion of themselves that when something goes wrong they deflect blame to the easiest acceptable source the community will accept.
