"The discovery well at Sugarkane was drilled by Burlington 8.9 kilometres (km) to the west of Sugarloaf and has been producing gas and condensate for almost a year. The Sugarkane discovery well and our Sugarloaf-1 well are central in a 50km by 20km trap where early structure on the Fashing Arch, formed by drape over the deeper Hosston structure (drilled in the Sugarloaf-1 well), allowed migration of oil into the structure and preserved porosity. Tight chalk forms the lateral seal all around the Sugarkane trap.

The Sugarkane gas condensate discovery in the Austin Chalk has relatively high porosity (6-12%) and is overpressured in contrast to the conventional Austin Chalk.
