When I visited Milan for my first and definitely last time--the locals in Milan refused to talk or even say hello.

Because many Sicilians look like Middle Easterners, they assumed I was from Nth Africa and ignored me. I was in the inner city and there were a lot of refugees about--so I got lumped in the same boat!

If I had spoken in English, they may have been more friendly.
