To get a truly competitive speed (22,000 per minute visa mastercard) they would have to raise it to the extent that the blockchain would cease to exist and be replaced by server with all the loss that entails. The bitcoin cash transaction rate of 35 - 40 a minute is a joke as a serious competitior to the incumbents
