1966 - 1974 was a nearly 9 year bear with failed breakouts.
Since 2000 the SP500 has failed to break out succesfully.
First chart is Dow and second is SP500. In fact for the Dow, both topped in Jan.
Right hand yellow arrows show Oct nearly 8 years after the initial tops.
